IBIZ DISTRICTS: Indy-biz Zones!
When asked to name our favorite restaurant, cafe, bookstore or shop, its typically a unique local business. Just look at the community's 'Best Of' polls as proof. These businesses define our sense of place, help us make event memories, and connect us to our hip local neighborhoods. All too often though, we forget their survival depends on our patronage.
Each year brings more and more national chains displacing locally owned businesses. AIBA reverses that trend by assisting neighborhood business districts as destination locations in becoming an IBIZ (Independent Business Investment Zone) District.
These Districts, located all over Austin, are home to an exciting variety of locally owned businesses promoting the neighborhood's unique blend of services and goods not found in big box retailers. Each IBIZ district reflects the culture, not just of Austin, but the local neighborhood it is in.
We invite you to explore each of the IBIZ Districts and you'll be speaking local in no time!

Do you want your district to become an IBIZ District?
IBIZ, a program of AIBA, assists districts of locally owned businesses to organize and promote their districts through cooperative marketing. AIBA is currently accepting applications for one new IBIZ district to be selected in October 2010. Benefits of becoming an IBIZ district include: staff to organize the district, promotion of district through AIBA and social media, signage for the district, and a small co-operative marketing budget for more traditional marketing efforts.
