The Texas Teen Book Festival is almost here! TTBF, put on by BookPeople, will be Oct 6 and 7. On Sept 24, the Clavier Werke School of Music will present a Classical Benefit Concert at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church at 1500 N. Capital of Texas Hwy. at 3pm. There will be performances by teachers and students. The concert is free and the Austin Disaster Relief Network will be onsite to take donations. 100% of the donations will go to the ADRN.


The Business Success Center presnets BOSS-Talks on Oct 3 at noon. This session focuses on Business Tools: Creating a Burn Out Plan for You & Your Stakeholders. Anyone can be burned out — owners, staff, vendors, even customers. If you have a plan, you can get through it faster and maybe even prevent it from recurring. Business owners and top managers who experience and deal with stress — their own and others - should attend. Especially useful for those who have millennials as staff, vendors or customers.

Join PeopleFund at the Sterling Event Center on Oct 19 from 6-9pm as they gamble for good at our annual East Night Celebration. You will have a wonderful time as they entertain you with poker, roulette, slots, drinks, food, fun, and prizes. Link & Pin art space is excited to present the Grand Petite Show “big ideas, small art” on Oct 6-29, with an opening reception on Oct 6 from 6-8pm. This Creative Arts Society’s final juried exhibit of the year features small works in a big way. Hyde Park Bar and Grill is celebrating it's 35th birthday on Sept 25 from 6 to 10pm and they want to use the party to help fellow Texans! The event kicks off at 6pm but a portion of our sales during the entire day of our Birthday Party will go to the Salvation Army to help the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. On Oct 26 at the ACC Eastview Campus on Webberville Road, ACC presents the Central Texas Business Partnership Coaching Series from 1-4pm. Come learn about the procurement cycle from central Texas agencies. This panel discussion will cover information on how these agencies do business and what to expect when submitting a proposal. The second part of this session YOU will be able to present your business to the representing buyers and procurement personnel.


SOS Alliance is excited to host another annual Barton Springs University. Barton Springs University 2017 will be a full day of outdoor learning and fun at Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park on Sept 26 featuring lectures, panel discussions, presentations, and training by leading academics, professionals, and policy makers on central Texas water science, public policy, and cultural history. The event is designed for high school and college students and the general public.

To help our friends, neighbors and fellow Texans in need after Hurricane Harvey, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund has been added to the RideAustin Round Up. This is a fund created by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to accept contributions to support the specific relief needs of the Houston community. The RideAustin executive team will match ALL Round Ups through the end of September, for an additional Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund donation.

End of an Ear is excited to host Hans-Joachim Roedelius on Oct 31. Pioneer in in the field of electronic music, Hans-Joachim Roedelius is considered one of the founders of contemporary popular electronic music. Remarkably prolific, Roedelius has appeared on well over 100 releases between his own work and collaborations, most notably his work with Dieter Moebius as Cluster & Harmonia, the latter including Michael Rother of Neu!

BCL of Texas has launched our new Texas Small & Diverse Growth Fund to help level the funding playing field for growing minority-owned business. With loan amounts from $5,000 to $50,000 this fund was created specifically for Black, Latino, Asian-American, LGBT, and women entrepreneurs with one to two years in operation that are ready to expand their business. Radio is uniquely able to inform and comfort- a necessity in difficult times. Many of their programs have dealt with the environmental issues and the political implications surrounding why natural disasters happen and how governmental agencies deal with them. When the weather gets bad, we check to make sure we have adequate water, a flashlight and a radio. Show them your support this fall!

Kerbey Lane Cafe, the iconic Austin eatery famous for its variety of pancakes and queso, is expanding to Mueller. The new restaurant will be located on the first floor of the Texas Mutual Insurance Company headquarters currently under construction along Aldrich Street between Philomena and Garcia streets. They anticipate a fall 2018 opening with approximately 230 seats, some of which will be outdoors. The Mueller location will be Kerbey Lane’s eighth restaurant in Metro Austin. Kerbey Lane will participate with other businesses opened or announced at the Aldrich Street Opening Celebration on Sept 14 from 7 to 10pm.

Katie will assist you in finding a comfortable reclined position using our yoga mats and props for this time of self-care and relaxation. Studio Mantra is also offering a unique AFTER SCHOOL opportunity for your kids ages 5-8 on Thursdays. Sept 14 to Nov 16, from 3:30-4:30pm, Janice will lead the kids in an hour of yoga-inspired PLAY! The Link & Pin Art Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition featuring new works by Award Winning Vehicle Painter, Shan Fannin. An opening reception will be helf at their gallery space at 2235 East 6th St. #102 on Sept 8 from 5:30 to 8:00pm. The exhibition will run through Oct 1 and gallery hours are Friday-Sunday 11-4:00, or by appointment.  Fannin is an award winning vehicle painter known for her dynamic and colorful realist acrylic paintings. The Link & Pin Art Gallery have selected Shan’s work for a solo exhibition featuring her large scale cars, motorcycles, and airplanes from the late-1960’s and earlier. Her unique combination of vibrant color, and 90% realism/10% abstraction formula bring these vintage vehicles to life.

The SOS Alliance is excited to host a screening of the next in the Living Springs series on Sept 2 from 7:30 to 8:30pm at Barton Springs. Come on out to the debut of the latest piece in the series, "Wildlands" Saturday. This 22-minute documentary will showcase Austin's water quality protection lands that Austin voters purchased to protect the aquifer. Learn about the significance and importance of preserving our aquifer lands. Swim before or after. Environmental groups will be on hand before the screening to talk about how you can get involved in community efforts to support the Springs, creeks and aquifer.

Austin Community College and Texas Workforce Commission have teamed up to offer small business training solutions and the opportunity to receive grant funded, high quality training for their employees. The Skills for Small Business (SSB) program is a funding vehicle designed specifically to help small Texas businesses provide valuable training they might otherwise not be able to afford. ACC offers a diverse class schedule in many popular subject areas and our experienced team can deliver high quality training in a host of critical business disciplines. In addition, we will provide the support you need throughout the SSB application process including assisting you with finding the perfect classes for your employees. Chez-Zee will be open all day on Labor Day    Sept 3. They will be serving brunch from 9am to 3pm and dinner from 5pm to 10pm. They will also be having Happy Hour all day long to celebrate and they will also be offering $8 Burgers!! Rich De Marco will be on the Piano 10am-2pm. They're saving a chair for you!


Studio Mantra will hosting donation classes  from Aug 31 thru Sept 3 and accepting donations of cash, check and unused gift cards (e.g. Target, Walmart, etc) to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. 100% of all donations will go directly to two organizations providing both immediate (boots on the ground) assistance and longer term rebuilding efforts, All Hands Volunteers and Habitat for Humanity.  Follow the link for the full weekend schedule.


Habitat Hunters is excited to welcome their newest agents, Ben Lee. You may know Ben as the owner of local Austin bakery, Polkadots.
