The Save Our Springs Alliance is hosting a reunion party to celebrate the reissue of the music video "Barton Springs Eternal" at Threadgill's on Jun 21 from 6-8pm and from 8-10pm. In 1992 a group of Austin musicians, artists and activists recorded the song "Barton Springs Eternal" in a colorful, fun-filled two day session. The video version has now been edited into a lively, all star Austin effort that retains the energy of the era and the importance of the movement. Admittance is free but donations to Save Our Springs and Save Barton Creek are graciously accepted.

The Business Success Center welcomes mayoral candidate Laura Morrison to talk about small business & CodeNEXT on Jun 18 at noon. CodeNEXT has big implications for neighborhood businesses and the future of all small businesses. You will want to hear what Austin Mayoral Candidate Laura Morrison sees from the perspective of being the former chair of the Austin Neighborhoods Council as well as serving on the Austin City Council. RideAustin has partnered with Cap Metro to offer you FREE Rides from Tarrytown! Austin's public transit provider is asking ride-hailing nonprofit RideAustin to pick you up and take you to a bus route as part of a pilot program. The program will run for six months in the Exposition area of west Austin. The program is in place in part because a 40-foot bus isn't the best option for every area of the city. The program starts Jun 11 and is free -  users just have to pay the bus fare. Just download the RideAustin app and book a ride from one of the two stops to anywhere inside the Exposition Innovation Zone.

This Friday, Jun 1, the local social group, ATX Vegan Drinks will be hosting an event with Bistro Vonish and the fine folks at Possum Park. Antonelli's Cheese Shop is excited to be taking part in the Hot Luck: A Live Food and Music festival May 24 to 27. This Texas-sized get-together is the true Austin festival experience blending world-class culinary talent and live music to honor the soul, sweat and DIY diversity of the food and music world. Two fun events are on the horizon from the folk at End of an Ear in the next week. On May 23, they are hosting a aGLIFF as they present a free screening of the movie Believer at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. And on May 26 from noon to 3pm they are hosting the Sounds of the Brewery Record Release Party. Thirst Planet Brewery will be releasing their first E.P. - a 7" transparent-gold Flexi-Vinyl record titled "Sounds of the Brewery".

 

The latest show at Link & Pin Art Space is “Elsewhere” - a three woman fine art exhibition featuring Kell, LaBaw, and Olivas They come together again to celebrate natural elements through their individual, optimistic and poetic visions. This collection of creative works will inspire insight and offer a fresh glimpse of the world through their eyes, while exploring the possibilities that may lie elsewhere. Show runs Jun 1 through Jul 1 with an opening reception Jun 2 from 6–8 pm.

After several requests to add another Yin class to the schedule, Studio Mantra is happy to announce that this wish has been granted!  Yin Yoga emphasizes long holds of poses resulting in very passive stretches of the deeper connective tissues. Through Yin Yoga, joints become stronger, improving flexibility. The class is accessible to all levels of students! On Wednesday, May 2 at 7pm Malvern Books will be celebrating the release of the Spring 2018 edition of Austin Community College’s journal, The Rio Review, which showcases poetry, prose, and artworks by students. During the event, students featured in this issue will share their fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. And on Thursday, May 3 at 7pm they're delighted to be hosting the launch of a series of chapbooks generated through a partnership between writers in the St. Edward’s University Poetry II class and graphic designers-in-residence from the Risograph Lab. Link & Pin Gallery presents work from The Pablove Foundation which teaches children and teens living with cancer to develop their creative voice through photography. This exhibit features the beautiful work of  students while raising awareness of childhood cancer. With our graduates’ photographic vision on display, the community can come together to support the continuation of our photography program in Austin. Saturday Apr 21 is Record Store Day and End of an Ear is ready to celebrate! They will open an hour early on Record Store Day at 10am and have a whole list of the new releases coming out that day. They will have a majority of them, but some titles will be limited or allocated. One item per title per person (basically you can't grab multiple copies of a release). No special orders or holds on Record Store Day titles. Come be the first to get the goods!
 

For anyone who hasn't been, the Navidad Farms open house is a bi-yearly food tasting event held at their store. They make complimentary dishes out of the great Texas made food products that they sell.  They are easy to prepare, simple entertaining ideas to use with our dip mixes, sauces, salsas and jellies.
