Tried Virtual Reality? You know you want to! Here's your chance at a very special AIBA Happy Hour. Whether your interested in virtual reality or uncertain about it, VR is the next big thing. You're invited to have some drinks and try VR at Originator Studios (MAP), Austin's first VR Arcade!  Educate yourself on the variety of potential ways that virtual reality & augmented reality can help your business, and your industry. Originator studios is a new, versatile space in East Austin that functions as a video/photo/VR studio, as well as a group VR Arcade by the hour.

And we'll have a special tasting from Treaty Oak Brewing & Distilling, named after the 500-year-old oak tree in Austin that symbolizes the strength and vitality of their products. Their focus on aged spirits and beer is to be both innovative and steadfast in their devotion to quality, hand-crafted products. Their brew and spirits are born of science and experience, created in custom made fermenters and stills with their own unique distillation process. They continually test new recipes and try new processes to create amazing beverages that we think you’ll love. Come get a taste of local!

We've all had a question or two about a business issue and no one to ask. AIBA has gathered six experts in a variety of areas and any AIBA member can come in for a 20 minute consultation for free! These experts in theri filed are offering their time to help you with any question you may have. You will have the choice of times in 20 minute increments from 8:30-10:30 am. When you RSVP, we will send you a chart of what times are available and you can make your choice. Times will be assigned on a first com, first serve basis. You must be an AIBA member to take advantage of this offer. Join us and take advantage of this unique opportunity for great advice. 

Kathryn Turpin, Richards, Rodriguez & Skeith 

Kathryn L. Turpin, licensed to practice law in both Texas and California, helps business owners with all aspects of starting and running a business, including drafting all contracts for a business, handling employment issues, reviewing leases, and buying, selling or closing down a business. Ms. Turpin has the skills to implement sophisticated solutions, but knows that sometimes the simplest solution is still the best solution!

John Leo Weber is the COO at Geek Powered Studios, a full service digital marketing agency in Austin TX. John helps to craft the digital strategy for all Geek Powered clients and writes about marketing for a variety of publications across the web.


Holly Acosta, Kazdon, Inc

Holly Acosta GBA, MSP is Vice President at Kazdon, Inc. based in Austin, providing Payroll Services, HR, FSA, Benefit Administration and Education. With 20 years’ experience in the Consulting and HR industry she is valued for her broad expertise in leading HR initiatives including benefit administration, compensation, compliance reporting, handbook development, HR audits, and training and development.



Jessica Scanlon, Hot Dog Marketing 

Hot Dog Marketing serves clients all over the country and in Europe. The small agency has won three branding gold medals for client work and was named one of the three best agencies in Austin. Jessica still runs Hot Dog Marketing full-time, but she’s now using her extra energy to write about small business matters and speak to groups about small business marketing challenges.



David Hood, Austin Energy

David has been a field representative, performing energy audits and recommending rebate opportunities; a support engineer, consulting with customers on energy efficiency opportunities, calculating custom technology rebates, and evaluating new technologies; and finally as the manager of commercial, industrial, and multifamily programs. David holds a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MPA in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.  


Jose Roig, City of Austin Development Services Department
As Building Official, José is responsible for the enforcement of building and construction codes to ensure public health and safety. José began his career with the City in 2007 as an Inspector C, and was promoted to Inspections Supervisor for Commercial Buildings in 2010.  In 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Building Official, where his responsibilities included managing the Service Center and Building Inspection Divisions.  Prior to his employment with the City, he held various inspection positions in Florida and the City of San Antonio.
