Policy on Equal Respect and Non-Discrimination

“AIBA by policy respects people of any race, religion, ethnicity, color, national heritage or origin, ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. AIBA does not allow discrimination based on any of the above characteristics. AIBA does not support content that promotes or condones violence, threats or hatred, especially based on above characteristics. AIBA reserves the right to deny membership to or revoke membership of any individual or business whose conduct violates this policy.”

“AIBA maintains the right to editorial review and control of all content created as a part of AIBA operations. Member submissions for advertising, public relations, listings, meeting content or other AIBA functions are subject to AIBA revision and control at AIBA’s sole discretion.”

AIBA is a 501(c)6 nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting and promoting locally owned businesses through member benefits, public education and advocacy.

Membership in AIBA is open to any locally owned business in the greater Austin area. Member business must be at least 51% locally owned. Your buisness need not have a storefront but must be independent and not a franchise. AIBA reserves the right to decline membership to any business it deems not appropriate.

Membership dues are annual from the date of joining and are not refundable. Monthly auto charges are charged to your credit card each month on the date of joining and can be stopped at any time with a membership cancellation.

We do not share, sell or otherwise reveal any email addresses of our members, newsletter subscribers or customers. These addresses include those gathered in contests, through our website, by request, in IBIZ Districts or through membership.

BY USING THE SITE, YOU INDICATE YOUR AGREEMENT TO BE LEGALLY BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF USE, and any other notices, policies, guidelines or rules published by us on the Site from time to time. The terms ‘AIBA’ or ‘us’ or ‘we’ refers to the owner of the Site. The term ‘you’ refers to the user(s) or viewer(s) of the Site.


Use of the Site: We grant you permission to use the Site as set out in these Terms of Use on the condition that you shall access and use the Site solely for lawful purposes and shall otherwise comply with these Terms of Use. Your access to the Site may be occasionally restricted to allow for repairs, maintenance of the Site.

Intellectual Property: All information, data, text, documents, graphics, logos, designs, images, pictures, photographs, videos, podcasts, weblogs, software, interactive features or other content, services or materials (and any part of them) accessible on the Site ("Materials") are protected by copyright, trade marks and other intellectual property rights and are the proprietary materials of ABIA or used on the Site by license or agreement.

The ABIA owns numerous trademarks and/or service marks (collectively the “ABIA Marks”) including but are not limited to the “word marks” Austin Independent Business Alliance, AIBA, IBIZ District, Think Local Be Local Buy Local, Austin Unchained, Summer of Independents and Love Your Locals, as well as design marks including the AIBA logo (Blue Armadillo with text), the IBIZ District logo, each individual IBIZ District logo(s) and any design/illustration containing the AIBA blue armadillo (nicknamed “Indie Dillo”).

Licenses/Use of AIBA TMs: ALL APPROVED USES OF THE ABIA MARKS ARE SUBJECT TO LICENSE(S) GRANTED BY AIBA IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION. All AIBA members in good standing are a granted a non-exclusive, limited license to use the AIBA Marks in conjunction with their regular business activities, as part of the AIBA membership dues package. AIBA also grants fee-based licenses for logos and/or designs that incorporate any elements of the AIBA Marks. Please contact the AIBA Executive Director for details.

Usage Guidelines: Any use of the term “IBIZ District” in written copy must read "Austin Independent Business Alliance's IBIZ District(s).” Whenever possible, the AIBA Marks should include the ™, ℠ or ® as appropriate. Alternately, attribution in the form of “[AIBA TM] is a trademark of the Austin Independent Business Alliance, used under license or by permission.”

a. While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information on the Site, it is provided for information purposes only, without any guarantee, warranty, representation or endorsement of any kind as to its accuracy or completeness or otherwise (whether express or implied), and it does not constitute professional or legal advice.
b. From time to time, the Site may include links to other websites. These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. They do not signify that we endorse the linked website(s). We have no responsibility for the content of any linked website(s).

These Terms of Use, and any other notices, policies, guidelines and rules published by us on the Site from time to time ("Website Documents") have been (or will be) drawn up in the English language. Each of the Website Documents shall be interpreted in the English language. Where any of the Website Documents (or any part of such Website Document) is translated into any language in addition to English and there is any conflict in meaning between the English-language version and such translated version, the English-language version shall prevail in all respects.
c. The section headings in these Terms of Use (including all documents incorporated into these Terms of Use by reference) are inserted for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
d. If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be invalid by any court having competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of that provision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms of Use, which shall remain in full force and effect.
e. These Terms of Use shall be governed by, and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, U.S.A. whose courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim or matter arising under or in connection with these Terms of Use.
